SPECIMEN ACCESSIONER
PRL has full-time, part-time and PRN Specimen Accessioner positions available in our Core Laboratory.
Job Description
- Interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, employees, and clients in a positive manner consistent with the mission and values of Physicians Reference Laboratory.
- Receiving and checking in specimens from couriers.
- Accessioning and clinical set up responsibilities.
- Logging client requisitions into PRL's information system.
- Re-labeling specimen with bar code labels.
- Performing any processing activities required (centrifuging, pouring-off) to prepare specimen for testing.
- Preparing and packaging specimens for send-outs.
- Maintaining and following infection and safety control procedures in all laboratory operations.
- Complying with the requirements and standards of certifying agencies.
- Attending all required department, sectional and safety meetings.
- Adhering to all department and PRL policies and procedures.
- Assisting with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Familiarity with working in a laboratory environment.
- Previous specimen processing or phlebotomy experience (preferred).
- High School diploma or equivalent (college level science courses highly preferred).
- Ability to type 45-50 words per minute.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
